Message to Lil’ Kim: How Much Homage Is One Suppose To Pay?

Lil Kim?

It is the year 2010. We have a black man as president and the country is still at war. There are far more pressing issues to discuss but Lil’ Kim and Nicki Minaj apparently now have beef to cook. Why? In my opinion, it all seems to be centered on a little concept and word called “homage.”

First of all, let’s make one thing very crystal clear. This “beef” is not and will not be on the same level of a Biggie vs. 2pac or a Jay-Z vs. Nas beef. I am quite sure that this will fade away just as fast as the whole LL Cool J. vs. Cannabis battle back in 2000. Furthermore, as much as Lil’ Kim would love to take credit for Nicki Minaj’s overall style, let me be the first to say to her; sit your ass down!

Kim, let’s not forget that you are a mimic. There is nothing about you that is real or original. You copied your entire flow and lyrical style from Biggie. Besides, you look nothing like the Lil’ Kim we all grew to love in 1995 with Junior Mafia. You weren’t even dropping any groundbreaking lyrics at the time. Please remember that you are now and will always be famous for lines like “Take it in the butt. Yeah, Yeah, what” If you would like someone to pay homage to you for that, I personally will do that for you.

Equally important, the last four platinum plus albums that you have contributed to Hip-Hop have managed to convince many young impressionable females that sucking dick, ass fucking, and using pussy for money is somehow living a glamorous lifestyle. On the other hand, I will give you your props on always having a very well produced product and a vividly attractive package, but pay you homage; really!?

Roxanne Shante

Kim, allow me to please give you a bit of a Hip-Hop history lesson. You personally did not invent this whole bad bitch persona. Roxanne Shanté did. She laid the entire ground work for chicks like you and probably deserves to be consistently acknowledged by any and every chick that enters the game. Oddly enough, she never publically asked for any. Then there was B.W.P. (Bytches with Problem), who were well known for their sexually explicit lyrics, bad bitch attitudes, and overall message of “No money, No pussy.” How much homage did you pay to them?

Lil’ Kim, please consider this. Instead of trying to revive your career on the backs of the new generation of up incoming artist, you should have at least tried to set up some type of collaborative effort with Nicki and hit the streets hard with your new super hoe shit. Female rappers have the hardest time breaking into the game as it is. Look at how we as women are exploited. Look at how the game pimp’d both you bitches. If you are a female in this game and not butt naked on posters padding your pussy or sucking dick between every 16 bars, heads don’t even turn. This picture is your homage. This is your major contribution to the game.

Did you not see the girl paying you your respect Kim?!?

I am so tired of witnessing you washed up female rappers attempt to tear down another female whenever they get their foot in the door. There is way too much room in the game for new female rappers with exciting new flows for you to be jealous of this chick. How about this, go sit your old ass down and let that girl do her thing. Jay-Z lied when he said, “30 is the new 20.” Stop letting Jay-Z brainwash your ass. Use your name as a brand for something clever and make some quiet money. You will always be Lil Kim “The Queen Bitch.” No one can take that from you.

Wake Up

You just spoke some real ish right there.. Real Talk 101

  2. First, very good, engaging, and thought-provoking piece. I agree with you on most of what you have said in this piece too. My dominant problem with Nicki is she is the one who first came out attacking Lil Kim. It’s not just Lil Kim that Nicki is copying either; she’s also copying Missy Elliot, Foxy Brown, and etc. I really don’t have a problem with people copying others’ styles, as Nicki does, but I just don’t want Nicki acting like she is some true originator. Yes, neither should Lil Kim act like she is some true originator of most of what she does, although some of her stylistic choices are, in fact, original. It’s not really about paying homage in a worshiping or reverence sense of the term–it’s more about having a little respect for those who have come before you, and having a little respect for what they have accomplished, even if they are not the “true originators” of a certain style one desires to employ. What is clear is Lil Kim certainly has been more successful than those who originated the style. I don’t think Lil Kim is trying to use Nicki as a vehicle to resurrect her career and Lil Kim has never had a history of trying to hate on newly entering female rappers and hip-hop artists.

Nicki brought Lil Kim into this battle. Now, she must be prepared to win. Both of them are harmful to young Black girls’ evolution with their hypersexual commitments. Lil Kim champions Black women being whores, and Nicki wants Black women to be fake: Barbies. Nicki has obviously embraced the White standard of beauty. It’s disgraceful to see these two women fighting like this when they could be working together. Nicki used and continues to use Lil Kim to engender “beef” to stay relevant in hip-hop, just as 50 Cent did to Ja Rule when he first entered into the game. This whole “beef” stuff in hip-hop must end. It only puts Blacks against Blacks, which these White producers love. Again, very good job!

First of all You wake the fuck up you bitch ads hater! Nicki started this beef back in 97 with HER mixtapes, you do your motherfuvkin reasesrch; Secondly, KIM is a fuckin trend setter because those chicks u mentioned WERE NOT talking the things Lil kim was rapping, that’s why SHE changed the game and opened up doors for these new chicks just like the old did for her!
Thirdly, Old ? Kim is 34- how old are you? Jay Z is 41- and still killin it, why are you u hater? Didn’t you hear Kims song, ” Shut Up Bitch”?
Lastly, if you really have a Ph.D which I doubt; All protégées rssemble their makers and believe Big, was the shit and so is, guess who? KIM, the Queen Bitch! Check the facts, Compare Kims success to the others, 14yrs in the game;she’s still giving u something to write about, keeping u employed,LOLdont hate, congratulate, and by the way, Kim did a song with Nicki, Nickis team pulled the song because rumored, Kim outshined her-wow, and you’re a reporter, blogger? Do your homework bitch!

      Dear Stan ( JF )

Obviously by the passion in your post I have run in to Lil Kim #1 fan. If you can stop beating off to her throwback pictures long enough to realize that I don’t give a fuck about any one of these hoes. Its is all to funny how people like to call individuals with there own point of view haters but so be it; lets get down to business.

According to your fact finding skills Nicki started this beef in 97 with her mix tape. If my calculation are correct, that would be 13 years ago when Minaj was 17 years old and Kim was year 1 in the game. So; are you saying after 13 years she just popped up one day and decided to re-spark beef. Shut the fuck up! Who cares who started the beef, Kim is a veteran in this game and should act as such. She should have brushed her shoulders off and looked at this as lightweight. OH! and do YOUR homework your girl Nicki Minaj has already achieved crossover before her 1st album dropped; I think she cares not if Lil Kim is hotter then her on a track. You wake the fuck up! Stop letting media tell you what to think.

Secondly; when did I say Lil Kim wasn’t a trend setter. I thought I gave her credit for her trend setting skills. Our young children are sucking and fucking all over the world due to her popular trends. I agree she opened doors for every butt naked, morally deprived, female hip hop artist looking to lay down the next sexually explicit sweet 16. I am quite sure you daughter will mimic her favorite artist ( who Lil Kim open doors for) and fuck and suck every so called “baller” she meets, get pregnant, and pimp welfare for all it got.

Please understand life is bigger then this bullshit. The game needs all types of talent and if Lil Kim can’t understand her importance and influence on the game she needs to sit down. 14 years in the game she should be pimpin Nicki Minaj not putting out a mix CD while this bitch is all over the world doing collaborations with anyone who would let her. She would have made more ripples by launching a stop the hate campaign inviting this chick to peace. This would have made real news not just
15 seconds on TMRL. This would have shown her superiority and trump Minaj as being petty.

Now before I digress let me clear up a few things.

      1. A blog is a frequently updated personal journal chronicling links at a Web site, intended for public viewing. So me being a blogger I write based on MY OPINION! Jack Ass.

      2. I kick common sense; not view based on being a fanatic (FAN).

      3. A tag is a nickname that people go by other then the original name sort of like.. JF! Come on Stan work with me.

      4. A prodigy is somebody who shows an exceptional talent at an early age; like 4 or 5. Lil Kim can hardly be referred to as a prodigy. Here’s some homework; look it up.

      5. I’ll be that Bitch you so eloquently called me. I expect nothing less from a Super Fan. Don’t worry Lil Kim will get her next rhinoplasty off the backs of zombies like you.

      Wake Up Ph.D <—————————— Tag O_o

Being that this beef is still going on do you feel the same way. I would like to say that Kim was the first sexed up hardcore female rapper. I know you say nicki paged homage to kim but I have an issue with that because when asked about why she did a cover similar to kins nicki doesn’t say ” to pay homage to kim” she say she made it her own by adding the sucker. I just don’t understand why she can’t say she copied kim cause her sexed up image is in the same lane that her image is. Also in the beginning nicki was more like kim but now she just a pop star. But my question is how cm you say
