“The Boondocks” Goes IN On Tyler Perry

In the newest episode of “The Boondocks” Aaron McGruder goes in on Tyler Perry through a closeted, cross-dressing, Jesus freak character named Winston Jerome. Through the Winston Jerome character, McGruder deals with the common criticisms of Perry’s work that typically involves exploiting black women, Christ and the negative stereotypes of black people. McGruder takes it a step further by likening Winston Jerome’s crew to being apart of a cult. Specifically, a “homo-erotic Christian” cult. Jerome’s character at the end of the episode eventually reveals that his cross-dressing habits and Christian faith is all a front to sleep with men.

Free At Last, Happy Juneteenth!

On this day, June 19, 1865 the decree of freedom that the Emancipation Proclamation promised to black slaves in America was finally realized in Galveston, Texas. Not until two and half years later that Texas slaves were delivered the news that slavery in America had been abolished. Since that day, black Texans have celebrated the holiday of “Juneteenth”

Afghanistan Is About To Become A Rape Victim

The New York Times reported that the Pentagon and a team of U.S. geologists discovered immense amounts of raw materials and minerals within impoverished Afghanistan. News of this magnitude had not been reported since 1938 when American geologists first discovered oil in Saudi Arabia. The amounts of raw materials are so huge and include so many minerals that are essential to modern industry that Pentagon officials believe that Afghanistan could eventually be transformed into one of the most important mining centers in the world. On the contrary, this news wasn’t really “news” because these findings were first reported by the US Geological Survey in 2007. Why all of a sudden present old news to the world as if it were breaking news? There is obviously an agenda, so let’s see what my drug-free thoughts can conjure up.

The Market Driven Mega Church and its Mission to Accommodate the Un-Churched

The target and mission of the mega church is to reach the un-churched and not the unsaved. Its focus is more on the consumer’s mentality than the consumer’s heart and the actual teachings of Jesus. Marketing has become so important to the mega church that anything that can be perceived as inconvenient to the consumer has to be removed. The overall aesthetic of the mega church starting with the entrance of the church to the pastor is all market driven. These churches utilize business marketing principles to “sell” the church program and accompanying related products to the masses.
